Copyright Susan M. Whitlock
MATERIALS: Use whatever size hook or thread you wish -- I used white knit-cro-sheen crochet thread in size 10 and a No. 7 steel crochet hook
RND 1: Ch 6, join to form a ring. Then make 6 petals of (sc, ch 3, dc, tr, ch 1, sl st in top of tr, dc, ch 3, sc) in ring.
RND 2#: Ch 3, sc between petals, around, join.
RND 3: Make double petals in each ch sp (sc, ch 3, dc, tr: ch 1 -- sl st in top of tr: dc, ch 3, sc, -- sc, ch 3, dc, tr: ch 1 -- sl st in top of tr: dc, ch 3, sc), around, join.
RND 4: * Ch 3, skip 2 petals, sc between sc’s, around from *, join.
RND 5: Repeat rnd 3.
RND 6: Repeat rnd 2
RND 7: Repeat rnd 3
RND 8: Repeat rnd 2
RND 9: Repeat rnd 3
RND 10: Repeat rnd 2
RND 11: Repeat rnd 3
RND 12: Repeat rnd 2.
RND 13: Work one petal in each ch 3 sp (sc, ch 3, dc, tr; ch 1 - sl st in top of tr: dc, ch 3, sc) around, join.
RND 14: * Ch 2, skip 1 petal, sc between sc’s, around from *, join.
RND 15: Work 2 petals spaced across from each other. Fasten off.
NOTE: Make different looking pine cones using different method of petals. Make the same as above except make the petals different. PETALS: Ch 3, 6 tr (leaving last loop of each then thread over and through all loops ch 3, sc -- Make two of these in ch sp to make double petals.
