Crocheted Sea Shell

MATERIALS: Size 10 Knit-Cro-Sheen in assorted colors (one ball will make several appliqué’s), #7 steel crochet hook, thread or fabric glue to attach the appliqué to what ever you want it on.

INSTRUCTIONS

Row 1: Ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. [3 dc]

Row 2: Ch 3 (first dc), turn, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in next st, 3 dc in last st. [6 dc]

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, 3 dc in last st. [9 dc]

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 2 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, 3 dc in last st. [11 dc]

Row 5: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in each of next 9 sts, 3 dc in last st. [14 dc]

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3 (3 dc), 1 dc in each of next 10 sts, 3 dc in last st. [16 dc]

Row 7: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in each of next 14 sts, 3 dc in last st. [19 dc]

Row 8: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same st as ch 3 (2 dc), 1 dc in each of next 17 sts, 3 dc in last st. [22 dc]

Rows 9-10: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each st across.

Row 11: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc dec over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 17 sts, 1 dc dec over last 2 sts.

Row 12: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc dec over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 15 sts, 1 dc dec over last 2 sts.

Row 13: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc dec over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 13 sts, 1 dc dec over last 2 sts.

Row 14: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc dec over next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 11 sts, 1 dc dec over last 2 sts.

SEASHELL APPLIQUE

MATERIALS: Knit-Cro-Sheen in the color of your choice. Steel crochet hook # 7.

NOTE: Always count the ch 3 as one dc unless otherwise stated.

STARTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SHELL:

Row 1: Ch 4, 2 dc in the 4^th ch from the hook.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in the same st as ch 3 (2 dc counting ch 3), 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in the last dc.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in the same st (2 dc counting ch 3), 1 dc in each dc across.

Row 4: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each dc across.

Row 5: Repeat row 3.

Row 6: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each dc up to the last dc, 2 dc in the last dc.

Row 7:Repeat row 3.

Row 8: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc dec over the next 2 sts, 1 dc in each dc up to the last dc, 2 dc in the last dc.
